TUSCAN HOTEL INTRODUCES HONEYMOON HELPER SERVICE

The popular perception of honeymoon couples is that they want to be alone.

But on the Italian island of Elba, the boutique-style Hotel Ilio is introducing a personal planner service for couples celebrating their nuptials.

Owner and manager Maurizio Testa said: “A lot of people  imagine honeymoon couples rarely emerge from their rooms; and while they certainly seek a degree of privacy, most of them are also looking for a memorable holiday packed with different activities and experiences.

“We are confident honeymooners will really appreciate being able to call on the services of someone with inside knowledge of the best places to go - and then make all the arrangements for them.”

The Honeymoon Helper programme is offered free (apart from the cost of the activities themselves) and couples can  take advantage of the service in advance of their stay as well as during the honeymoon itself.

Said Maurizio Testa: “Whether the couple wants a recommendation on the best restaurant for a candlelit dinner or more active pursuits such as hiking, snorkelling, kayaking, diving or a wine tour; all can be arranged at very short notice.”

The 20-room Hotel Ilio which specialises in serving traditional Tuscan cuisine is situated on the island where Napoleon famously went into exile in 1814.

Five of its rooms have been designated as being particularly suitable for honeymoon couples. Each features antique Tuscan furniture while one room includes a four-poster bed.

Honeymoon couples also receive a free bottle of renowned Elban wine; and for each bride, a bottle of Arcipelago, a limited edition designer perfume from Acqua dell Elba.
