Horse riding, in the midst of a green wood with sudden breathtaking views over the sea, is one of the most relaxing yet enjoyable ways to get to know the beauty and wealth of Elba's natural landscape. There are numerous itineraries for all abilities, offered with F.I.S.E. instructors and qualified guides. They are ideal for expert horse riders, but also for beginners, who can get to experience the feeling of climbing into the saddle for the first time in one of the most attractive settings in Italy.
By following tracks past silent, peaceful Mediterranean scrub, it is possible to reach the ruins of an abandoned village in the Literno valley, or the sandy beach of Marina di Campo. From here, following a scenic road above the sea, with a breathtaking view of the islands of Montecristo and Pianosa, you can reach the rocky Fonza bay. For those interested in history and signs of the past, there are also some routes through the Colle Reciso evergreen wood, along an old Napoleonic military road with a view over the Gulf of Procchio, or the Solane path, which leads to the old medieval hamlet of S. Ilario on the slopes of Mount Perone. These are the shortest treks, lasting one or two hours, but there are many others for those who prefer day long excursions in direct contact with nature, which never ceases to surprise with its beauty and variety. Finally, for true romantics, the hotel offers evocative night trips, marked by the discovery of new sounds, scents and colours.
